How Structure and Style Supports Students with Dyslexia
Reading comprehension is a product of two processes: decoding and language comprehension. Thanks to the Science of Reading movement, the understanding of how to teach students to decode is becoming more widespread. However, that is just half of the equation. If students do not comprehend the language even though they can decode it, they do not have reading comprehension.
In this presentation IEW Accomplished Instructor Jennifer Mauser will share ways you can help your students build their language comprehension skills through writing. Reading, spelling, and writing work together to build reading comprehension. Discover how the Institute for Excellence in Writing can help you help your students.

Homeschool Teachers are AMAZING & AWESOME
A homeschool teacher is often her own worst critic. Yet I see them as superheroes. If you think about it, a mom, and certainly a homeschooling mom, is rather amazing. In this workshop, Davis lists seven of the capes that homeschool moms wear proving that they are truly amazing. The homeschool mom will leave believing in herself and ready to take on the world — at least the education of her own kids.

Additionally, Faith shares signs, red-flags, and warnings to watch for, as well as shares her daughter's perspectives and reflections. Equipping Minds for Children with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and other Neurodevelopment Disorders
The Equipping Minds Cognitive Development Curriculum is used with children and adults who happen to have Down syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, PANDAS, and other neurodevelopmental challenges. Intelligence is not static, and critical age or period can be overcome because the brain can change, as the latest research on neuroplasticity has proven. This evidence-based curriculum has proven cognitive and educational gains, which everyone can replicate and use. Participants can put this research into practice by learning specific brain-training exercises that have been proven to increase working memory, processing, attention, executive functioning, and long-term memory retrieval. Strengthening these cognitive skills lays the foundation for language, reading, writing, and math.

They take on all sorts of roles and wear all kinds of hats. Actually, they are more like capes. You know, superhero capes. In this workshop, Davis lists seven of the capes that homeschool moms wear proving that they are truly amazing. The homeschool mom will leave believing in herself and ready to take on the world — at least the education of her own kids.

In this session, Faith recounts her daughter's nightmare story, as well as their family's journey of seeking justice and working towards hope and healing post-trauma. Additionally, Faith shares signs, red-flags, and warnings to watch for, as well as shares her daughter's perspectives and reflections.
